Absolute perfection as you say Craig, Just beautiful.
Is that two of Don's off springs in the audience? They certainly look like him.

This unique, irretrievable performance might be a bit of eternity.

All musicians involved seemed seriously touched by the level of commitment that has been developed. That's what had then – and still has nowadays - a direct and inevitable impact on the audience.

You don't grow tired of listening since this is simply top notch.

Certainly a piece of history, here’s the whole thing:

Please go to around:

02: 33 [to check out the song's original composer]

08:27 [to hear Chet's intro + tribute to the Bryants]

18:17 [to check out what made me understand why a lot of you ladies get distracted from the music by the interpreters’ looks + one of the most beautiful J-200s I’ve ever seen]

22:22 & 34:10 [to check out the “back-up” singers]

50:10 [to hear the —oh so humble & sensitive— Country Gentleman himself singing in this rare occasion]

54:26 [to see a one in a lifetime lineup do the Bo Carter classic that was resurrected by Ray Peterson in the early 60s]

58:43 [to check out a very special verse]

Some other versions [to compare & comment].

I'm going to have to vote for the version from the Garrison Keillor show, but very closely followed by the live Chet show version....and listening to the Dire Straits version ... Sorry for any Dire Straits fans , but once you've heard the Everly Brothers, there's no comparison

Thanks Ricardo, always good to hear Emmylou Harris and country gospel-ballads and Chet on the soulful mandolin. He sounds as good as Bill Monroe & The Blue Grass Boys. Saw them, met and talked with them at Haverford College in Suburban Philadelphia years ago. Mountain music, bluegrass music, Scotch-Irish 300-year-old music, blues, then a drop of pop, Everly Brothers sound...I'm fascinated by the big blend-mixture of these motifs, these sounds and what comes out...the band on the Chet Atkins Special was superb, I would have loved to have played keyboard with them. After 10 years of practice, that is!
