Always admired Taj Mahal's eclectic approach to the many very authentic & little known styles of blues he totally masters, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine him sing a sort of calypso & much less with this sort of incredible backup!

Any of you guys have any info on this gig?

It's one I have never delved into Ricardo. Maybe I should look into it. I have known about this "Paradise" song for a long time but only quite recently seen it performed live on the PHC show.

PS, love him departing from his usual ― oh so very bluesy ― hoarseness & blending his timbre & pronunciation with his "backup singers", particularly over the "you can loose your blues" phrase...

Garrison Keillor was fired from MPR for 'inappropriate behavior.' They also renamed the PHC to Live From Here.

I wonder what Don thinks as he and Phil were huge fans of Garrison.

Thanx!

So, was it him that got them together for the program?

Ricardo -

Don and Phil have been on the show many, many times. They even spoke about their love of PHC in interviews. Yes, Garrison was the one who brought them together.

FYI- PHC is done about 15 minutes from my front door here in Minnesota. It's done out of a building in downtown St. Paul. The Everly's have appeared there and also when the show went to NYC for a few episodes.

Here is an episode they were in - they even acted in it (go to the 19:40 minute mark.

Did you notice that the story line the Everly's act in that episode is very much like the story in the song Lightening Express?
