I’m bumping this thread up because there are some great versions of Love Hurts on here and in Ricardo’s link to an archived thread. Roy Orbison’s version with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is being played a lot on BBC radio 2, presumably because the album has recently been released. The orchestral backing worked for Elvis’s songs but hubby and I feel it just doesn’t work for Roy. We think it is because Roy’s voice was so perfect the orchestra detracts from it rather than enhances it.
